When Emmeline Pankhurst founded the Women’s Social and Political Union in 1903, having split from the National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies, because she was frustrated by the tactics and felt they should be more militant, this was the banner in front of which Emmeline spoke at all her meetings. The original banner is now held by the People’s History Museum
